Solution Concentration: A Comparison
This video compares answers to a problem worked in grams per liter, percent composition, and parts per million in order to show the similarities between the answers yielded by these methods of calculation. The problem comes from a set of practice problems used in class, which addresses the CA standard: Students know how to calculate the concentration of a solute in terms of grams per liter, molarity, parts per million, and percent composition.
NOTE: I assume that you have the use of a periodic table. In working quantitative problems, I will usually round masses to the nearest gram. These examples demonstrate a considerable focus on the rules for simplifying fractions in order to work problems without a calculator.
