My Flash Chemistry Videos

On this page I have posted videos of problem solving methods used in chemistry. I create these with a QOMO tablet and Jing screen capture software. The results are in Streaming Flash (.swf) format.

Lewis Structures

These problems address the following CA standard: Students know how to draw Lewis dot structures. The examples are drawn from the Lewis Structures Worksheet used in class.

Mole Conversion Problems

These problems address the following CA standard: Students know how to determine the molar mass of a molecule from its chemical formula and a table of atomic masses and how to convert the mass of a molecular substance to moles, number of particles, or volume of gas at standard temperature and pressure. The solutions are a from a Practice Benchmark.

Stoichiometry Problems

These problems address the following CA standard: Students know how to calculate the masses of reactants and products in a chemical reaction from the mass of one of the reactants or products and the relevant atomic masses.

The solutions are from a sampling of problems from our Interactive Stoichiometry Problem Set.

These problems are from our practice benchmark.

Gas Law Problems

These problems address the following CA standard: Students know how to apply the gas laws to relations between the pressure, temperature, and volume of any amount of an ideal gas or any mixture of ideal gases. These solutions are from the "warm up" problem sets used in class.

Calculations of Solution Concentration

These videos demonstrate solutions to solution concentration problems. The problems come from a set of practice problems used in class, which address the CA standard: Students know how to calculate the concentration of a solute in terms of grams per liter, molarity, parts per million, and percent composition.

Thermochemical Calculations

These videos demonstrate solutions to thermochemical calculation problems. The problems come from a set of interactive practice problems used in class, which address the CA standard: Students know how to solve problems involving heat flow and temperature changes, using known values of specific heat and latent heat of phase change.
