CALIFORNIA FRAMEWORKS SUMMARY: A mole is a very large number. Standard 5b describes the mole as the number of atoms in 12 grams of 12C. The number of atoms in a mole has been found experimentally to be about 6.02×1023. This number, called Avogadro’s number, is known to a high degree of accuracy.
