Welcome! Welcome to ScienceGeek.net, the website of Andy Allan, retired science teacher in Visalia, California. The content of this website is my own creation and my own responsibility. I believe that the contents are appropriate for secondary instruction, as are any resources linked from within this site. Some of the resources may be very specific to the courses, while others may be of general use to many high school science students and instructors.

A Word About My Resources
I gladly make these resources available because I do not think that education is a zero sum game. When your students win, we all win. I just ask that you respect my guidelines. Here is the gist of it:

  • You are ALWAYS welcome to link to resources at this site.
  • Feel free to move pdf files and PowerPoint presentations to your district's slick new Learning Management System if you believe that will make them more easily accessible.
  • Please DO NOT copy any of my review activities (interactive quizzes) to another web site OR a Learning Management System.
  • Please alert me to mistakes in any of the review activities, or to broken links or other functional problems you experience.

Chemistry

The Chemistry Page will give first year chemistry students access to all of the notes, worksheets, labs, Powerpoints and other important documents for the General Chemistry classes that I taught. For instructors, I have also left a Course Calendar from my last year. Interactive review activities for important concepts, organized by units, are provided to help the student prepare for important benchmarks and tests. Though retired, I'm continuing to add to the review activities, with a goal of creating HTML5/Mobile Compliant activities for all of the content in the course.

AP Chemistry

The AP Chemistry Page hosts the resources for the class in the manner in which I taught it up until 2017. I have NOT re-organized the resources into the College Board's nine unit system. I support the move, but I have found that most teachers place links to my resources from their own web pages or school sites, and they are free to organize their materials as they choose. Relevent resources include PowerPoints in HTML 5 format, notes, and review activities. Though I developed the resources for my own AP students, they will probably also prove useful to AP students at other schools as well as college students taking a first year chemistry course.

Biology

Though it has been some time since I taught Biology, I will continue to provide access to my old course materials, including Powerpoints (web-based and offline formats) and interactive review activities to help the student prepare for important benchmarks and tests. Now that I am officially retired, I am going to indulge my life-long love of biological science, so I've begun to add new review activities for biology students.
